Franklin Delano Roosevelt (January 30th, 1882- April 12th, 1945)
Democratic Party
March 4th, 1933- April 12th, 1945
Vice Presidents: John N. Garner, Henry A. Wallace, and Harry S. Truman

During FDR presidency there was an ongoing issue that was called discrimination. This thought was brought on not only toward blacks but also to foreign people. White people during this time were so against the thought of an interracial school with blacks. Parents corrupted there children’s minds with thoughts that black people were bad and should not be allowed around them as they were “perfect”. African American’s fought in World War I and World War II although they were greatly discriminated against and were treated very poorly. This fact didn’t change when the courageous soldiers returned home.

When African Americans’ set out to find a job during the great depression they failed miserably. They were either tossed aside or got the worst jobs that anyone could find. Poor and discriminated against it was a hard life for them during this time. Whites had no compassion for the poor souls and just let them be as they were. Viewing the black as underneath them as they always have and as some of them will always view them.

Franklin D Roosevelt deserves an A for his terms served as president. In the early 1900’s he pulled us through the Great Depression, World War II and the Stock market crash of 1929. With unemployment at an all-time high, people not able to make enough money, this all leading to not being able to pay bills and mortgages and potentially losing their homes he made it his goal to pull us through and not to let America fail as a country. All of which lead to the grade of an A.

Franklin D. Roosevelt had many goals during his four terms as president. Most of which were to help the people of America in their time of need. These goals included but are not limited to; creating a better banking system in America that the citizens could trust which is known as the “banking holiday”, he create the New Deal which had a goal in helping the stalled economy, another goal was to create more jobs for the American citizens since unemployment was at an all-time low, he wanted each American citizen to have an education, to get a job, and to have an income, He also wanted to rid the government of corruption. Over all most of his goals had a positive effect on America. However one thing backfired on him. This ting was a part of the New Deal. Some of the New Deal affairs resulted in taking away multiple jobs from farmers and workers. This small piece of the New Deal was really the only amiss item of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s’.

Franklin D. Roosevelt had an exceptional relationship with Congress. Most of the motions he proposed were supported. By both the house and the senate FDR was appealing mainly because most of the people were Democrats. This turned out in his favor By Congress passing the New Deal plan. This was aimed at the Americans to create relief and bring reform. The plans with in the New Deal appealed to Congress mainly because they needed a way to get out of the depression and were willing to try it. Overall he had a better easy-going relationship with congress during his four terms.

Although many of his plans within the New deal were great, one of the best plans was the Homeowners Refinancing Act of 1933. In 1933 about 864 loans were given out through the country. This disconsolate number lead to the Homeowners Refinancing Act. This acts’ main goal was to provide homeowners or would be home owners with money or by refinancing their mortgage. This act provided many families from 1933 to 1936 the ability to refinance their mortgages or helped them buy a house. This kept people from being homeless and being forced onto the streets. During this time it was a great and ambitious asset to the American people however later it proved to be an inadequate act because many people in the end weren’t able to pay their mortgage.

Another Great plan that erupted from the new deal was TVA. TVA provided many Americans with the much needed jobs. It helped the Tennessee valley replenishing the region. The people involved in his act help by providing fertilizer, and teaching farmers a better way to farm. They built dams and nuclear power plants to provide the region with energy. This act is still in use today and not only provides for the Tennessee valley region but has a wider horizon and provides energy to many others as well.

The only really bad thing that happened during FDRs’ presidency was the Roosevelt recession. This took jobs away from workers and farmers. These jobs were much needed and couldn’t be afforded to lose. In the end however Roosevelt persevered and got through it and created more jobs in the end. So it really wasn’t that bad of an impact.

Roosevelt as a president set a high standard for his oncoming president. He help America get through their hard times during the Great Depression, Word War II, and the stock market crash of 1929. Overall without FDR it is hard to think what would have become of our country and how we would have turned out today in the end. This created the result of an A as his overall grade during his presidency.
